You hit on a rich topic - there are some important sub categories in here: materials, light and changing perception, simplicity...

Consider splitting the big theme "integity" into a finer grain of topics. Even your first post would be an element within a definition of "integrity" in architecture?

You could then explain why the last project you posted falls short of this definition.

I really enjoy the bathouse project. It is a very deep and well thoughout design that brings much to discuss. I agree these projects do have integrity. Expounding on what makes the integrity and what doesn't takes more considereation. Simplicity was talked about a few times and I wonder how simplicity makes a building have integrity. It almost seems like two opposite statements. But with these projects they strengthen the integrity of the experience. Thank you for your discussion.

I like that you chose Tadao Ando’s Temple of the Light, it makes simple and strong arguments that really back up your thoughts. His Church on the Water has similar characteristics with the simple but powerful view of the cross reflecting on the water.

Chris,
I think that the integrity comes in when these predominant statements are backed up with good details and spaces throughout the rest of the selected structures. The “one trick pony” of concentrating on sustainable design in Nicholas’s last selection is a prime example of how a building can lose integrity.
